Footage Released Of Ralkina Jones’ Final Day In Jail Before Her Death

New details have emerged in the case of Ralkina Jones – the 37-year-old woman found dead in a Cleveland Heights jail cell on July 26. In body camera footage released by the city’s police department, Jones is captured explaining her medical ailments to two officers and outlining the medications she takes.

“I’m not asking any exceptions to any rules, but what I will tell you is: I don’t want to die in your cell,” she said to one of the officers.

Jones explained to the police that she suffered from a traumatic brain injury stemming from abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, whom she was accused of assaulting on the night she was taken into custody (July 24). She informed the officers that she suffered from ADHD, depression and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a condition that causes fainting when standing up from a seated position. Jones also expressed concern about officers during other shifts who weren’t aware of the severity of her illnesses.

“All I be wanting is somebody to be honest with me the entire time, instead of a different shift coming on and being mean to me,” she said.

Jones was found unresponsive in her cell after reportedly being reportedly “lethargic.” Her family previously claimed that her medications were not adequately administered and have said they “look forward to the results of the pending investigations.”
