You might need a tissue for this one – the official trailer for Saoirse Ronan’s new movie ‘Brooklyn’ has finally been released, and boy is it a weepie.
Oscar-nominee Saoirse stars alongside fellow Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson in the upcoming period drama, which also stars British legends Julie Waters and Jim Broadbent.
The film follows a young Irish immigrant named Eilis Lacey (Saoirse) who leaves her family to travel to New York and falls in love with an Italian-American boy named Tony – played by Emory Cohen.
The trailer comes after ‘Brooklyn’ was the stand-out hit of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, with whispers of an Oscar nod circulating after the hugely positive audience and critic reaction.
The flick was partly filmed in Ireland, and was divided between Dublin and Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford – the home of Colm Toibin, who wrote the novel which the film is based on.
Speaking to the>Enniscorthy Echo at the time of filming last year, Saoirse said the film will resonate with anyone that has ever experienced emigration.
